Girl Trip

Me and my two girls ( I STILL love saying, "my girls") are headed to VA to visit Grandmommy & Papa Bill, Uncle Jim and fam, and some dear friends. I have to say that I am a little nervous to travel by myself with 2 sleep deprived girls ( we have to head to the airport at 5:45 AM) but really excited to see my family and friends in the FRIGID north! With highs in the low 50's, we may not thaw out 'til summer! I know I lived there, oh, almost my whole entire life, but I am a GA girl now, and even the 70's require a light jacket. I can't believe I used to laugh at people bundled up here in 60 degree weather- Yup, I'm one of 'em now! We can't wait for everyone to meet Miss Gianna for the first time!

A day at the Zoo

How do you know?

When you can claim the title of "Soccer Mom"? Because I will wear that title proudly for this little girl! Isn't she a beautiful soccer player? Big brother got in on the fun! "Come on Ryry, I am big enough to play!" "Come on -let me go!" "Okay Dad, I'm here now, we can start the game." Try telling her she can't play soccer cuz she's too little!

The Brother Factor

Image
We have this phenomenon in our house that when there is an explosion of *pink* in our house, one of the brother's will step in and add a little *blue* into the equation. Case in point: Aria had this sweet baby doll, all dressed in a cute purple outfit. I left for a few minutes during the naming process, and her brother helped her with the name. Knowing full well that once Aria decides on a name, she WILL NOT CHANGE IT! Our purple baby's name is now... ... Ernie. And forever more shall be. Yup, A little blue in our pink world. So I shoulda know that for Gianna's birthday, I should NEVER have given Justin the job of naming Aria's bear. "Shoes" Aria where is "Shoes"? , Go get your shoes -See the potential for confusion? I want her to put her shoes on and she brings me a bear!!!!! ACK! And because we were waaayyyy too involved with the birthday girl, I didn't notice the outfit they picked for Shoes until it was too late. Gianna was happy as a clam...

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Image
Today our sweet baby girl turned 2 years old. Unfortunately, due to illness and tornadoes ( yes, tornadoes ), we had to cancel her family party. So, after a few minutes of feeling sorry for ourselves, Daddy had a great idea of taking her to the Build a Be@r store. "Okay, Birthday Girl which one looks the best to you?" She fell in love with Ducky' nose. She was happy to get a heart to put in her bear! After all, she is 2 now, and can "Do it myself" After quick bath and a soccer outfit, we were ready to head home for cake. Because no child should have to have a birthday without their Mommy and Daddy, we first sang to her to celebrate her first birthday we missed while waiting to travel to China. Although we made a cake and celebrated(cried) last year, I wanted her to blow out that "1" candle. Who doesn't love the "Happy Birthday" song sung to them twice in a row? Especially when you are TWO YEARS OLD??? Looks like she loved the cake! Gian...

Will this week ever end??

Rough week: Gianna has had the bronchial crud FOR WEEKS now, and I finally decided to take her to the Dr. again, only to find she has an ear infection and sinus infection. Poor baby, and I thought it was only a cold because she had no fever. Mother of the year award is in the mail.... On the way out of the parking lot, I was backing up, and a woman decided to try to swerve around me, and I hit her car. Technically , it was my fault, but she didn't have damage and left me to call my sweet hubby and let him know of the new dent her side mirror made in the back of my SIX MONTH OLD car!!! Fun, fun stuff. And if that isn't bad enough, brace yourself dear bloggers for this one- We are repainting our whole main floor (I say "we" very figuratively here. Truth be told, I am not allowed to go near paint or paintbrushes, for reasons I'd rather not discuss.) And somehow my vacuum cord got tangled with my laptop cord and the broom was involved, and next thing I know my new...

Mommy's girl

Aria is a mommy's girl plain and simple. (And might I add that I love it! ) Everyday she has a surprise for me, or she is celebrating my birthday, or bought me a present. Even when we do something for others, she looks for ways to include me on the fun. For example, if we make Daddy his favorite dinner, she will say the dessert or the salad is special for me. She can easily make anyone else other than me feel like chopped liver, without even trying. Greg teases that when she graduates from high school, her valedictorian speech will begin with, " I want Mommy." And so we are working on that. And apparently we have more work than I realized. Last night we went out for dinner, and I was trying to gently remind her to say thank you to her Daddy: " Thank you SOOO much for dinner Daddy," I said. Not getting the hint, Aria exclaims loudly: " Thank YOU Mommy for getting Daddy to take us out to eat!" We laughed til we cried over that one!
