Glad THAT week is over!
Here's the recap of our roller coaster week last week:
Monday: Aria has a high fever, we go to the Dr, and she has double ear infections. That is the 8th this year, so we need to decide if tubes are a good option at this point. Greg left for a business trip in the afternoon.
Tuesday: Aria is atill running a fever, so I have set the alarm to wake up and check her temp. At 3 AM she decided she was up for the day, and chatted until 5 AM in my bed. Cute, but leads to a loooonnnngggg day.
Wednesday: Ryan's friend Jenn arrives from Baltimore. She is a terrific, Godly young girl, and a wonderful family friend. Justin comes home, so we have our house full, which I love. I get busy making yummy snacks and meals.
Thursday: The big kids go golfing. I get a call at 1 PM that Justin hurt himself really badly when the golf cart pinned his foot against a curb. Lots of blood, and they are heading to the hospital. With Greg still gone, my sister rushes over to care for the girls while I head to the hospital.
I am shocked when I get there- it looks like a huge hole on the outside of his foot and it is really deep. What you would expect from a gunshot wound. So deep and wide in fact, that they can't stitch it closed- so the loosley close it as best they can. He has bone contusions and is on crutches. He is in lots of pain too.
I get home to 2 girls who missed their mommy and make it their mission to not let me out of their sight. And a patient who needs his pain prescription filled. And a houseful of hungry college kids.... Makes for a hectic evening to say the least.
Friday: Daddy takes the red eye home- YEAH! We missed him so much! Justin is not improving and in lots of pain. Looking back, we should have guessed that there was something "not right". Aria gets a weird spot on her leg that is red, flat and a perfect circle. With all the staph scares of late, we head to the Ped with all the other Friday afternoon sickies. Long story short, they have no idea what it is, but by bedtime it disappears like she never had it.
Saturday: We change the dressing that has stuck to the wound and realize that he has a major infection going on. Our Dr. sends us to a different hospital, where without anesthesia to the site, they cut off the stiches and lots of yucky stuff comes pouring out. They clean it well, leave the wound open, and send him home with additional antibiotics.
Sunday: I wake up at 5 AM with my neck locked up, and I can barely move. Guess where I carry stress?? :) I put a heating pad on it, and hope for the best. AT 8 AM, Ryan takes Jenn to the airport - we will miss you Jen!We head to church with Aria sporting a dry cough, so we stay in the back room by ourselves so not to pass anything she might be coming down with. Glad to see our friends and be at church, but we keep the girls away from everyone and sneak out at the end so we keep the germs to ourself. The red lines are receding on Justins foot, so we are so happy to see it improve. And, with motrin, I can move my neck- things are looking up!
SO, good news is that now Justin is healing, Aria seems fine now, and it has to be a much better week this week. Seems all the crazy stuff happens when Daddy is out of town!
