The Blessinngs of the Lord make rich...
Matching PJs and ready for bed. Aren't they adorable?
My and ALL FOUR of my daughters. My cup really runs over!!
Gianna and Celia. I am glad that we prepared ourselves for CP. She is only hypontic in her neck, but she is spastic in her arms, so she is resourseful and uses her feet to grab toys you hold up for her. She is happy, smiley, and sweet as sugar. I am not upset so understand I am saying this as more matter of fact, but she is like a 6 month old in every way. I pray for her sake that some good therapy and nutrition will help her tremendously. She is definitely on the more severe end of CP. We are not shocked, in fact I really expected this end of the spectrum. Please don't feel "sorry" for us or her. She is a blessing and we are privileged to be called to such a child.
Right after we got back to the hotel room. Sofia only wants ME or Aria. Or she is crying pretty hysterically. We don't mind- at least I have some one to take turns with if I need a potty break :) Sofia is more like a 12 month old. She can't eat cheese- she holds it in her mouth, and she is a tiny little thing. She never cried when they gave her to me, and there was a room full of about 45 families all getting their babies in a hot, un ventilated room. Think MASS screaming, and tearful parents. It was a magical moment to see the nanies walk out with baby after baby and see families being made.
Here we are doing the Sofia hand-off. I am so thankful the girls are here with us. Aria has reached Sofia and she will only allow Aria and I to hold her. She is just as we thought- very fearful, but she makes great eye contact and is eating and drinking well. Celia is "bottle-fed" only- umm, NO WAY. I bought a jar of baby food to see if we could get her to eat it and she LOVED it and ate it much better than her bottle. Guess we will be shopping again tomorrow.
We are emotionally and physically exhausted, so I will end for now. Much love to all and thank you for the prayers!! They both came to me as peacefully as I had prayed for, and despite the fact that Celia's CP is more severe than the pictures and videos showed, we are so thankful for both the twins and how we will be blessed by being their parents.

What beautiful pictures! He is so good! We know from the improvements that Aria and Gianna made the first few months, that Sophia and Celia are in the best possible place for them. We are so blessed to be counted in the extended family. They have finally "come home". WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE DAY WHEN WE CAN ALL BE TOGETHER!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't wait to get up this morning and see your pictures. So glad those sweet girls are in your arms. God is good! We'll keep praying for their (and your) adjustment.

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for all of you!
On the practical side, I'm glad you had mentally prepared yourself. Also, that Celia uses her feet to grab toys shows a wonderful adaptive nature. I think you are correct that with proper nutrition and therapy, she will come far. Just remember the leaps and bounds A and G made!
I love the first picture of Sofia - such a look! That little one has some expressive eyes :)
Hugs to all, and of course much love,
Anne
Congrats! Congrats! Today deserves double the excitement, right? I am so overjoyed x2 for you and your family. They are beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL! God has given you two blessings to love. I can't wait to see them shine once they are bathed in love.

ReplyDeleteAwesome reunion! My new granddaughters look so adoreable and sweet! Can't wait to see them! Looks like you already have things under control. Aria and Gianna are beaming with joy. They seem so happy to have sisters. Aria is taking the Mama role seriously you can tell! What a wonderful and busy life you will have. I am still praying that Celia will eventually get alot better. Enjoy your precious family and give them lots of love and kisses from Grandmommy and Papa.

ReplyDeleteI am so happy for your family. The twins are beautiful and will no doubt thrive now that they are with their family. And not to leave out your two older girls they are precious and look thrilled to have two baby sisters.
ReplyDeleteIncredible, awesome! They are beautiful and precious, "fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous in His works." Congratulations to the blessed parents, the beloved and brave twins, the loving older sisters, the anxious, "can't-wait-to-hold-them" brothers, and, of course, the proud, thankful, "jumping-for-joy" grandparents. We love you and are praying for you, thanking Him for this wonderful moment in your lives (and ours, too!).

ReplyDeleteFollowed your posts on RQ and couldn't wait to get home from work today to see your pictures. Your entire family is just beauitful. We also adopted a little guy with CP this past spring. It is amazing how much progress he has made since we have been home. He still is very delayed but it has been like night and day since we first met. There are TONS of great resources that I am sure you are more than aware of. One thing I imagine you already know is just how much the stress (new place, new people, new food...) can increase muscle tone. You are probably getting a glimpse of the effect of that and hopefully the videos/pictures you have are a more accurate reflection. In any case, the love you have for your family is so beautifully reflected through your words. Congratulations once again.
ReplyDeleteHi to all the Claxtons,
ReplyDeleteThe girls look good in all the photos. Christy and Greg--you don't look exhausted!!! :) I wish you all good things. Hope the trip goes well and the girls quickly bond to you. It is great to see them together after they had been parted so long. I bet they are so happy to be together and then with all of you showering them with love.
Blessings to all,
Kelly deRosier
