Give thanks!

Last year, we started a new family tradition over the month of November. I read about it on some one else's blog, so I can't take credit for it, because the Lord knows I don't have a creative bone in my body!

Let me introduce you to our Thankful Tree:

We put thankful scripture verses we memorize.

And we all write on a leaf random things we are thankful for. Aria wrote that she is thankful for food, eggs and that she is 4 (the number that makes the word egg not quite right) Look how beautifully her cursive writing is coming- she wrote her name all by herself!

Gianna didn't say, but I think she is thankful for her uncanny artistic talent. She spent a LOT of time on her leaf.
We have so much to be thankful for!

  3. What an inspiring idea! I love it. Do you cut out the leaves yourself? If not, where do you get them?

  4. Karin-

I bought a couple pieces of brown foam sheets and we fashioned the tree out of them and put magnetic stripping on the back. That way it is reusable.

Last year we just did it with construction paper and I cut leaves from construction paper as well.

The foam leaves we got at Michaels in a package of 25 or so.

We all really enjoy it, and I plan to save a few leaves each year, so we have them to look back on what the kids said.

  5. What a wonderful idea! I also like the idea of keeping a few each year to look back on when the kids are a bit older. It looks beautiful too.
