A week of Adjustments

~Ryan left us a week ago today... Good news is that one week is behind us, bad news is that we miss him like crazy!!! We we thrilled to actually be able to speak with him briefly yesterday, which lifted all our spirits!

~Greg started his new job on Monday. After over 2 years working from home, he now has a 3 hour commute each day. We are SO THANKFUL for his new job, but the adjustments to not having Daddy home every day have been hard on us all.  We are used to morning snuggles with Daddy, lunch with Daddy, and if he was just working on his computer, he'd work in the playroom so he was in on the action. We have gone from that, to having him leave at 6:30 AM and hoping he will be home at 6:30 PM.

~ In addition to missing him like crazy, I miss all the conveniences of having him home. I could run to the store while the girls napped, I could meet a friend for coffee and leave them at home if his schedule was light. He would wrap up his day and run errands with me. We had an afternoon coffee break each and every day where we spent 15 min reconnecting over a hot cuppa joe. He'd load the dishwasher if he saw that I hadn't gotten to it yet, or take the trash out, or throw a load of laundry in. We made dinner together. I miss all the fun we had over the mundane aspects of our day.

~Because of the afore mentioned adjustments, Gianna has had daily meltdowns. Yesterday it was because her brother left for the evening and she missed him. Sobbing and crying... She asks 35.2 times every day where RyRy is, where Daddy is, and where Yo is. She gets upset after someone leaves the house, because for all she knows, they are headed for East Asia too. I can't say that I blame her- one of these times, I may just join her.

~The girls have had viral bronchitis, which led to an ER visit for Miss Gianna last Friday. Despite my best efforts, Aria came down with it as well, so a good night's sleep has been something we are longing for. My poor babies cough so much that we have had vomit, bloody noses and other lovely things that  you just love to clean up at 3AM. I think Gianna has turned the corner after 12 days, and I am hoping Aria will rebound quicker!!

~*Someone* in our house is turning 5 years old in 2 weeks, so to add to the little time we have with Daddy already, we are making her present and will need every bit of the 2 weeks to have it ready. My part of the "we are making her present" is to keep them so busy that they don't ask where Daddy is. No 3 day relaxing holiday weekend for us!! Given Gianna's insecurities as of late, that should be fun- NOT!!

~And lastly, our sweet little Bentley was neutered on Friday. Adding to the cough-fests, we have a sweet puppy whining in pain and having to go potty right AFTER we fall back to sleep from caring for one of the girls. At 12:22AM. And then 3:07 AM. At 5 AM.

Sleep- who really needs it any way??

Above all the sickness, and adjustments, sleep deprivation, the loneliness, and the missing of brothers and Daddy...We are blessed. We are thankful. We can see God's hand working in all of us through this. He is faithful.

  2. I hope everyone feels better soon. Get Greg some good sermons to listen to on his drive. That's how my dad survived that kind of drive for the 8 years. Unfortunately he just got laid off, so no more long drives for him.

We sure are glad that things are improving in your household, especially that Gianna has turned the corner and, hopefully, Aria has, too, by now. Don't worry - the next 6 weeks will fly by and Ryan will be back home, and that will be good medicine for the whole family. We love you all and pray for you every day.
