I'm liking 2010 already!

I was born in the mid-west and grew up in Colorado. I LOVE winter. I love SNOW even more!
Living in Virginia, we got our fair share of decent snowfalls. I woke up as excited as the kids at 5 AM to hear if schools were closed. We spent our days sledding, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying all things winter.

We are so crazy about the stuff that one year IN THE MIDDLE of a blizzard, we walked 2 miles pulling the boys on sleds to the grocery store. Not because we needed anything. Nope. Just for the thrill of walking two miles in the blustery snow.
Crazy, I know.

This weekend, we celebrate 7 years of living in Georgia. It has flurried a few times, but the only significant accumulation happened when we were in the Mediterranean and we missed the whole thing. Mind you, no one heard me complain from Greece about the one I missed!

To give me that "winter" feel, I decorate my house with reminders of snowfalls past.

This year,I decided to extend some of my Christmas decorations and make them winter decorations. I couldn't bear to part with the snowflake pillows that match NOTHING else in the room since the Christmas decorations are down. Still, sigh... I love them. They will stay until the daffodils bloom,(which for us is usually in February).
Aria calls this our giant snowflake. Maybe that's why I like it so much?
Even my pajamas and toes have snowflakes on them!
Imagine our JOY when we heard it *might* snow. I stocked up on hot chocolate, made a huge pot of lasagna soup and we waited for our Georgia Blizzard.

My girls, who have never seen more than a passing flurry, shared my excitement!
As you can see from the bushes behind Gianna, this is a REAL serious storm.

Still,we sat and sipped coffee and watched it snow until it stopped. I wanted to savor every minute of watching that beautiful stuff fall.
It makes me giddy!
Even though it was only enough to cover the cars, IT WAS SNOW!!!
Thank You Lord for blessing me with the gift
of our first Georgia snow fall!

  2. Best part was having a snowball fight (with the garage door of course) and playing hide-n-seek until those cheeks got rosy red!

  3. If we end up getting any snow this winter we'll be sure to box some of it up and send it to you. Right now, we'll just settle for some rain. We know you folks have had far too much rain and don't won't to hear that word, but we remain in a drought. But it is gonna rain soon (said Noah)! And maybe it is gonna snow there soon, too. We love the girls' "snow outfits" (of course they are beautiful in any outfit!).
Lots of love, hugs, kisses and snowballs, Mom and Dad
