Enough already!!

Well, let's see....

Two weeks ago Aria was coughing a really junky cough.
No fever.
Just a YUCK-O cough that sounds awful and keeps her up at night.
And exacerbates her asthma, which is always fun- NOT!

So we cancelled all our activities, hunkered down and lysoled like crazy.
It lasted a FULL WEEK.

This week it's been Gianna.
Which worries us because of her lung issues and her lack of ability to cough deeply.
Thankfully she is doing okay, and getting better.

So it wasn't totally unexpected to hear Sofia coughing last night.
A REEEAAALLLLYYYY junky cough.

Sigh.

Sofia thinks when anything is bothering her, it's her tongue hurting.

Very cute.

She also had a nightmare a few nights ago and woke up crying unconsolably, because....

SHE THOUGHT SHE LOST HER HAIRBOW!!!!

For Sofia, THAT truly is a nightmare-Stuck in a dream WITH NO HAIRBOW.

She truly is DIVALICIOUS.

Even in her dreams.

Anyhoo......

Me thinks Lysol is sick of killing our germs and has gone on strike.

However, since I WILL NOT be the person who drags her kids out and lets them cough all over any and every thing to pass this lovely virus, we are STILL hunkered down.

Before Celia, I would probably have taken my kids out with the rationale that there was no fever, so it's all good.

Now, the kid coughing up a lung behind us in church, could cause a hospital stay for Celia.
OR, pneumonia for Gianna.

And since there are LOTS of kids out there like Celia and Gianna, I have become MUCH MORE conscious of keeping our germs to ourselves.

It's my hope that others will do the same.

The fun part of being locked in the house with 4 kids for two weeks, is
THE WEATHER HAS BEEN FABULOUS.
So they have shared their cough with the backyard,
while they romp and play... and cough.

Oh, and then there is the BEAST BELLY RUB sessions.

ANd the MOOSE MAULING, of which he seems to not mind.

And let's not forget the BEHEMOTH PHOTO SHOOT on a blurry cell phone.

Good times folks.

Good times.

  1. I'm so sorry about the sickies going around your home. Jack started the same yuck here. Then I got it and now Matt. Hope you guys are all on the mend now. And what a precious dog to go with your beautiful girls.

  2. Can you get little masks from your local hospital? I know that some heart kids have to wear them when out in public as a precaution, especially after they get a heart transpant and are on immunosupressents to prevent rejection. I've been thinking about getting them for my daycare kids. I got in a batch of four new, never been in daycare kids, who have been running virus after virus after snotting nose after strep throat after more coughing and more snot and I've gotten to the point where I don't let them touch me!
