Where did March go?
Ahhh, yes, I remember.
March was the magical month that Make-A-Wish began Celia's wish.
SQUEAL!!
It also was the month we took back the abyss known as our yard.
90 bales of pine straw
160 bags of mulch
1 very dead tree removed
stumps ground
new tree planted
old playhouse stained
pavers moved
plants planted
copious amounts of trips to Home-Depot
and it finally all came together.....
It all started with a pathetic backyard, that was forlorn and neglected.
And a shabby old playhouse that the sisters couldn't part with.
The contractor made quick work out of the foundation.
At the end of week one, windows and walls were up and the roof was shingled.
Good stuff.
Hardiplank siding, a real front door, electricity are now in.
A cool deck, and paint to match our house.
Getting pretty homey, huh?
Swing set for 4 girls is off the back.
Put in a lil' mulch
(okay 160 bags, but who's counting)
and it is looking pretty awesome.
Here is a view of the inside BEFORE the Wish Team blinged it out.
She has a chalkboard wall and a magnetic wall.
And, this special ClubHouse sign lovingly made by our Chelsea.
Here is the outside AFTER my sister worked her magic.
A mailbox, window boxes, a welcome mat and some extra touches to make it look amazing.
She loves our girl.
And the wheelchair ramp began on week 3.
How wonderful is this? A fully wheelchair accessible backyard.
Here is the view from Celia's vantage point of her super-awesome ceiling fan.
There is a precious story about this fan:
Two high school kids from church gave Celia ALL the profits from their economic project.
Just to bless her.
Since she spends her time on the floor, we wanted her to have an extra special ceiling fan to look up to.
The money they gave provided the fan.
My Aunt and Grandmother also sent her gift money so that we could get her things to fill up the house and make it SUPERCALAFRAGALISTIC.
And boy, is it ever....
And the entire 3 weeks, she only saw it from the deck 3 times
(and only before it was painted.)
She knew she had a "Howwse"
but patiently waited until her Reveal Party to see it all.
Next up, The Reveal....
Love it!!!! Don't you just love Make A Wish. They do everything so well and so thought out. Can't wait to see the finished product.

ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love!
ReplyDeleteThe most amazing transformation we have ever seen. Now, for the first time, all the girls can play outside no matter the weather cause Celia now has a climate controlled playhouse. Mommy can be there with the girls while they do their favorite thing, PLAY TOGETHER. We can never thank Make a Wish enough. They are great, caring people. The smile on Celia's face says it all!!!
ReplyDeletewas it make a wish that got you all that ramp and play house?? We are praying about getting our son a wish!
