What Happened to May?
I have been a MAJOR blog slacker. Thank you girls for those who were checking on us. With Instagr@m, and the ease of checking the blogs I read on my iphone, I RARELY open my lap top any more.
What is this world coming to when laptops are too inconvenient?!?
First.World.Problems.
Anyhoo.... here is a little catch up on the goings on of our family:
In May, we went to a lovely reception for our son and his new bride. I'd show you all the great pictures, but I had to get a new phone, and I did the back up wrong (NO COMMENTS BOYS!) and so I lost a bunch of stuff.
We stayed for a 11 days, and only had two trips to the ER. One for a g-tube infection for our little princess that came out of nowhere, and one to get more oxygen tubing because our little monkey girl can shred them with her toes....while attached to her face. Lil' Booger!
We came home and had a plethora of Dr visits, a trip to the endoscopy center, Grandma visits, practice testing for the Iowa tests, Cousin Camps weekly, and then the last 10 days got a little more exciting, even for us.
It started with a call from our bank that our debit card was stolen and $700 was stolen out of our account.
Argh!
We got a little bit of cash and figured our new cards would arrive soon, and it would tide us over for the places we couldn't write checks. Bad decision. BAD, BAD decision.
Then on Saturday, Gianna started a fever. On again. Off again. We think she is fine, next day she is not. Argh.
On Sunday, we took showers, ran laundry and Aria yells, "Mom, did you wash the bath mat? It's soaking wet."
Oh Geeze.
The tub and toilet overflowed and flooded the basement. And we had no debit card, and just a lil cash and it was SUNDAY. No banks open.
Did I mention I got a UTI? So let's keep score: Sick kid, peeing-like-crazy mom and NO USABLE bathrooms. Do you feel my pain?!?
And then, Home-Depot did not want to accept cash for a tool rental. And we only have debit cards.
Don't even get me started on CASH NOT BEING ACCEPTED. It is Anti-American. Orsomethinglikethat.
We eventually convinced them by frantically waving CASH and begging and such, and to make ANOTHER sordid story shorter, *we* ended up digging up the front yard (AGAIN!) and our pipes were not even attached.
(When I say *WE*, I would like to note that my only participation was:
A) Complaining that there was no water. and B) Providing ice cold drinks to the cute middle-aged guy who was slaving away.)
Then Monday, Aria got a fever. Bad news, because she had the Iowa tests on Tues. and Wed and we would lose our money and not be in compliance if she didn't take it. No pressure.
Monday night, fever gone so Tuesday bright and early we head to testing. She had headaches(I thought it was stress) so we motrined her up and she tested away.
Tuesday Gianna attempted to start a cough. BUT, she literally can't due to some issues with her diaphragm. So tears roll down her cheeks and she tries and tries. It is AWFUL to watch and there is not much we can do to help her.
Wednesday I come back from testing with Aria and Greg mentions he keeps getting this sharp stabbing pains in his back. After watching a few of these pain episodes, I was pretty sure he had a kidney stone. Problem is, we had a big meeting scheduled at our house Wed night, so we decided not to mention it, and after the meeting headed to the hospital.
Are you still with me?
Sick kids,UTI, major plumbing problems, testing, meetings, KIDNEY STONES.
Spent most of the night at the hospital, and got home in the wee hours of the morning of Aria's 9th birthday!!
There is absolutely no time for kidney stones, we have a new karaoke machine to break in.

Then it was off to the Tea room as was her wish.
Our beautiful birthday girl.
Sugary sweetness.
Diva Lovely.
Dare ya not to smile back!
A night in the hospital and pain can lead to super-delirious silliness.
She has NO IDEA what an amazing Daddy she has.
And on her birthday night, the fever came back. Friday morning bright and early, Momma took her biggies to the Dr. It was now almost a FULL WEEK of headaches, high fevers on, high fevers gone, and then super sore throats were added to the mix.
We spent hours at the Dr.
Was it Strep? Mono? Blood tests, strep tests and they all came back normal so a nasty virus was suspected.
We head home, and I realize I have a nasty headache.... and a sore throat.
Get home, and Daddy has it too.
And then last night, Celia joined the ranks.
Sofia is our lone survivor. Everyone else is SICK, SICK, SICK.
So we will spend our weekend trying to get Gianna to cough, giving breathing treatments, trying to hydrate Celia so she doesn't get hospitalized, administering meds, and collapsing on the couch ourselves.
Repeat.
Yes, WE ARE THAT FAMILY.

ReplyDeleteOh, my!! I hope you all are on the mend now!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Now realize I wanted a blog post but not quite this exciting!!! As Abby and I were riding in an ambulance today to Scottish Rite I assured her we, her parents, are ok with life being boring. We need to share that small piece of info with your family too. All is good for us tonight and we are snug in our beds praying for some serious healing to be going on at your house. And yes I did smile back!! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a mom.of the year award. Or at least an honorable mention ;) Hope your summer starts to feel.like summer.soon!!

ReplyDeleteI don't know HOW you function, girl!? Do you sleep? And, you always choose JOY in the midst of chaos. You are a rockin' great mom. And, I'm so glad to see a post, I was getting worried! I'd love to connect on FB if you're on there...

No one deserves a month like that!! Just hope the rest of June is better. The pictures are awesome but who is he handsome guy in the hat and where is the picture of Mom in her hat? I'm still trying to picture Celia shredding her oxygen tubes?!? I used to say that one day we wouldn't be able to use money, but I didn't know that day had already come. We will keep praying, that is the one thing we know we can count on!!!! (Glad to see you're back on the blog; now we understand the down time. We knew about some of the challenges, but not all of them. We love you, one and all!)
