It could have been you or me.....
My heart is absolutely anguished for the people in China who are grieving the loss of loved ones, homeless and without hope that only Jesus can give...
~ Many, many of the dead are children- ONLY CHILDREN. Because of the one child policy in China, think of the parents who are grieving their only child.... I cannot imagine, I really can't.
Consider reading this story to try to get your mind around the loss these parents are dealing with: http://www.charlotte.com/171/story/624849.html
~Having been to China twice, we have seen first hand the primitive conditions. These people work very hard to provide for their family, and live in what we would call "dire poverty". It is the norm for most families. We have so much as Americans....
~Our money, even a little bit can go a long way. There are orphanages that are not safe, so children are living in tents outside in the elements. Here is one example:
*Dujiangyan: Children are safe. Children have been evacuated. Their temporary shelter has no tap water or electricity. They urgently need food, clean water, diapers, and powdered milk.
~So how can we help? Please consider making a donation to Half the Sky, who is a very reputable organization. Ford has agreed to match the donations, so even a small amount will go just that much further. Here is the link:http://www.globalgiving.com/pr/2100/proj2086a.html
Please, please prayerfully consider what you can do to be a part...
I can't even begin to imagine what China is going through right now. The whole thing deeply saddens me. Thanks for the link to that story, I may just use that later on my blog.
ReplyDeleteIt is the saddest thing to go through to lose a child. And to lost your only one is just unimaginable. I am praying for those families. Thanks for posting this. I am going to repost it on my blog.
