BIG News and Updates.
~Gianna had her first expansion surgery on Wednesday at Shriners. It honestly never will EVER get easier to watch your sobbing baby be carried into the O.R. We had not told her she was having surgery, and she was as happy as a lark playing in the PACU until I told her that the Dr. needed her to take a nap so that he could fix her back. She looked up at me with huge tears, and then just sobbed gut wrenching sobs. How can she know? It was very traumatic for this mommy.
~The wonderful news is, that after 24 hours she is difficult to slow down. She tried to hop and dance on her way to xray, and she is recovering MUCH faster than we ever expected! We are so thankful for all our sweet family and friends for their prayers for our baby girl. Keeping her down with her restrictions over the next 4 weeks of recovery should be interesting, but I wouldn't want it any other way!
~We left the hospital yesterday for a little R&R at Grandmommy and Papa's house. We were planning to stay until Sunday the 25th because my little sister is running in the Marine Corp Marathon, and we couldn't be prouder of her! I wanted to be cheering her on each and every single step of the way, and have "her girls" waiting for her to cross the finish line.
~Our plan unfortunately had to change due to Greg's job. And this is where things get interesting......
~A company called Greg asking him to interview for a job on recommendation from their customer that they hire him. He thought he was interviewing for one position, but in turn they wanted him to interview for a position which would be a huge promotion for his career.
We were humbled.
~Everything was progressing along nicely, and then he received one of those life-changing phone calls...." We'd like to extend you an offer for this position. Did we mention that the executives must live in Tampa?" Ahem, did you say TAMPA? As in.... FLORIDA? You want us to MOVE to stinking hot, humid TAMPA???? ( No offense to any Floridians out there. Really.)
Leave my sons, my family,my friends, our church family, and my home???
Apparently the answer is yes to all of the above.
~So, after days of prayers, discussing it with the boys, calling our close friends and asking them to pray with us, and lots more prayer, and a few "Not my will, but Your will be done" prayers,we are indeed moving to Tampa. And leaving my sons, and all we know and love in Atlanta.
Sigh.
Oh, and to make things just-that-more fun-they need him there ASAP.
As in....Right away.
(Which means October 26th to you and me.)
Did I mention my daughter had surgery on October 14th????
Apparently not.
~And to make things just a bit more hectic, on the way to admitting our daughter to the hospital, he had to call his current employer and give the perfunctory two weeks notice. They were not so happy, and decided to make it difficult. They demanded two and a half weeks notice instead of two, and Oh, by-the-way, we expect you to continue to travel for those two weeks and close business because we don't want you to just transition your work load, we want to SUCK THE LIFE right out of you on your way out the door.
Did I mention my daughter JUST HAD SURGERY???
Apparently yes, but they just don't care.
~We had to change our flights to come home early next week, so Greg can honor their demands to the best of his ability. We will miss my sister's marathon which devastates me to the core. I will have 3 days to begin the arduous task of packing our worldly goods, and then we will head to Tampa to house hunt for the weekend.
So yeah, we pretty much have nothing going on. How are you?
Wow, where to start!
ReplyDeleteFirst, so happy Gianna surgery went well and she is recovering better than expected.
Second, awesome news about the huge promotion! Sorry that it came with such a big move. I wish I were closer so that I could help you pack or watch the girls.
I will keep you in my prayers as I'm sure the next couple of weeks will be stressful. Big ((HUGS)) to you.
Well, congrats on the surgery. She is such a resilent little girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you and your move. You will find good things in Tampa, and you'll find a good church, and friends, and all that.
If people offer to help with your move TAKE THEM UP ON IT. Don't try to be superwoman.
We are very glad to hear that the surgery went well. Praise God!
ReplyDeleteI am sure the move will be beyond stressful, but how wonderful to receive such a blessing during the current economic times. God is so good!
On a side note, my friend lives in Tampa, and they absolutely love it there. We went to visit on New Years this year and we able to go to the beach.
Great news all the way around. Hopefully this will be a good job fit for Greg. He has really been through it with jobs the last couple of years. We'll miss you more than words can say, but Tampa isn't THAT far away!!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I thought I lived a "crazy" life. Sounds like everything is for the good though. Praying for you and your family.
ReplyDeletePlease call when you are ready to get packing! I have much experience and actually don't hate it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear all is well with Gianna, and even though it is hard to keep her down that is such good news!!
Call when you get home
Teresa
Okay...so let's have a packing party!
ReplyDeleteI want to spend as much time with you before you leave as possible...even if that means working! It will be my joy to help you guys.
(This is Tara. I couldn't figure out how to put my name in.)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mary on that "packing party" idea, but let's leave your coffee station available until all else is packed away. We Love y'all, Cristy. I can hardly believe you're moving, but I'm not surprised at all that Greg has been given this wonderful job opportunity.
And sweet Gianna! That image of her bursting into tears breaks my heart, but how good the Lord is to be giving her what looks like such a promising recovery. I know there will be tough days ahead - not to mention the added stress of moving and watching your husband manage two different jobs. We'll be praying for you.
I know you'll be busy, so I'll ask Mary to keep me posted on when I can come help pack.
Much love from the Koehlers.
So happy about the surgery going well... And Greg's job. But what stress you must feel at times!!
ReplyDeleteJust to be clear. You are moving your household, but your blog is going to stay right here. Right? Right!?
Oh my goodness!! Praise the Lord for Gianna's surgery going well. Aimee kept me and some others updated through email.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that you are moving away! What a lot you have on your plate right now. You and the family will definitely be in my prayers!!
Makes me think of the commercial "Life comes at you fast!" You are in our prayers. We know how stressful moving can be. It's rough on little ones, too. Glad to hear Gianna's surgery went well.
ReplyDeleteOk, see those wonderful ladies who have offered to help...
ReplyDeleteTAKE THEM UP ON THE OFFER!!!!!
And all you wonderful Atlanta friends of Cristy's??
DONT LET HER SAY NO!!!!!!
I'm thinking of you and praying hard. Who knows where we'll end up next, but I know we'll be closer than we are NOW!
Dearest Kindred Spirit,
ReplyDeleteToday may not have been the best of days to visit your blog...ugh. It is all so raw and sucks the breath out of me!! I have read from post 1 thru October 16th 2009 and cried a cry I have needed to do for quite some time now. Amamzing how we can't shed a tear for fear of judgement, shame or frightening anyone. It's ok to cry right? As I read through your blog it just all came back, I must have just been making the movements and not remembering the days. RAW TO MY CORE!! Thank you for befriending Madigan and me, we are grateful the Lord has brought us you and your family....a ray of light!! Someone who understands our way of life, our "funny little ways".
You talked about your amazing friends...look at them here. You are very blessed!!
I hope that all of your new adventures are coming together nicely....
Glad to hear Gianna is still doing great after her expansion. Madigan however, pian wise, excellent...surgery success we are waiting for Philly to call. Her ribs are now collapsing on the right like Gianna's and her back isn't straight at all she tips forward to the left....hmmmmm words from my wise friend would be good. I am waiting for Janet to call....boy this is lengthy huh....I am going to dry my tears and get a cup of coffee....
You will all be in our daily prayers FOREVER!!
Valerie+Madigan
Well, we thank The Lord for both develoments and know that both are the result of much prayer. You have sure been on a roller coaster ride but we know that The Lord has been right there with you. We will miss you in Georgia but we know you are following His will.
ReplyDeletep.s.: You are forbidden from becoming Marlins, Buccaneers or (heaven forbid!) Gators fans.
We love you and continue to prayer for you.
Cristy
ReplyDeleteIf only I'd read your blog before Facebook. Matt and I are sad to hear you guys are moving. You have been so sweet to reach out to us with everything we have been through with Abby. We were really looking forward to that dinner we were going to have. Now we will just have to come to Tampa to get it! LOL We come to that area a good bit however, in fact Matt will be that way next weekend. We will definitely meet up again. BTW how well DOES Boston Creme Pie ship?? We will be praying for you as you settle in. Go to Busch Gardenss if you haven't, our kids enjoy as much if not more than Disney!
Many prayers,
Lee Ann
