What happened to Birthday Part 2?

Ummmm...... yeah. Birthday part 1 is usually followed by part 2.

Except when you have my life right now.

~My son is moving next week to VA to start his new life (that doesn't involve us) and we have to move all his wordly goods to a storage unit while he is living in temporary housing and searching for a roommate.

~Lucky for me, the packing and storage unit still involve me, because he is moving away- Did I mention that already?

~MY FIRSTBORN IS MOVING AWAY.
There. I said it.(choke...sob...sniffle...)

~His new life may just be with a beautiful Christian girl that has totally captivated him, like we have never seen before.
Think Happy Mama tears.
And sad.
But mostly happy.
(I think.)

The "How to Parent" manual doesn't detail the conflicted emotions you will feel when your firstborn flies away. Far, far away.

So yeah... there's that.

I've decided to live in denial for the next few days.

We aren't moving our son's wordly goods.
Nope, we are just cleaning out the garage.

We aren't cleaning out his room for the last time.
We are giving Greg more space for his office.

He isn't moving away to a fabulous job with a wonderful future and a beautiful girl.
He's just on a little... vacation.

Because if he WAS moving away, my heart may or may not be breaking.

  1. And if he was moving away, maybe I'd be there to see it and to take you out to lunch to deal with it. But I'm not, so he can't be, right? Never mind that he can't possibly be OLD enough!!

And maybe I'll be moving close enough to see his momma one of these days...

  2. She is GORGEOUS! Excited for his new opportunities, but praying for your "Momma spirit" :) You are such a great Mom.....Love in abundance in your home, that's for sure!

  3. I'm really sorry no one has told you... but the real reason he is moving away is not to be with just 'some' girl.... I'm his AUNT! He is obviously moving to be closer to his old aunt :o)
