Happy Monday!

"It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it." Prov 10:22

As I have been thinking about this verse I think of all the blessings in my life, and can't help but be overwhelmed by all I have been given..

I spent the morning having my hair brushed by my girls, playing dress up and ENJOYING my time with my babies. What a HUGE blessing! When the boys were little, I had to babysit to supplement our income, and I never had time to get everything done, much less have a leisurely morning playing without a care in the world.  When we requested a child with a  serious medical condition, Greg told me it was time to retire. I spent the last few months with just Aria before we traveled to China. I am so thankful for the blessing of being a stay at home mommy for the first time in 22 years of marriage.

I am not sitting in a quiet house. I have dishes to do, fingerprints to clean off the windows, and loads of little pink dresses waiting to be washed. My table has sticky fingerprints to be wiped, and the loud giggles of girls pushing the baby buggies down the hall are ringing in my ears. One day, I may enjoy what a quiet house has to offer, but not now, not today. I am thankful for the joy that the blessing of my babies bring.

We laugh. A LOT. We spent last night as a family playing games, ribbing each other and laughing about the funny comments the girls make. We have LOTS of nights just like last night. Our boys are now treasured friends that enjoy spending time with us regularly. That is a HUGE blessing.

My sweet hubby works from home. When he is not traveling, he is is home all the time! We have coffee in bed together each morning, we eat lunch together, and many times he brings his computer up to the playroom, just to be near us while he is working. We LOVE having so much Daddy time, and I know it is a tremendous blessing that most do not have.

We have a wonderful church! Our Pastor teaches expository preaching, so we go through an entire book of the Bible in oh, about 3 years. We really learn and understand the scripture IN CONTEXT. I realize how much scripture I thought I knew, but had wrongly applied for many, many years. And how self righteous I was in "thinking" I knew the scripture! UGH! We have grown leaps and bounds spiritually and have been greatly humbled in the process.

I have AMAZING friends. I won't take time to name each one, but I have true sisters in the Lord who love me, love my family and will be my friends forever. You may never know how much each of you mean to me, but after moving here with no friends in the area, I don't take for granted the blessing of each one of you!

And lastly, I am thankful for my home. When we lived in VA we had a dearly loved little townhouse. We could hear our neighbors sneeze, we backed to a basketball court( the boys thought that was a blessing). My DREAM was to one day own a single family home. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that we would sell that little townhouse for MORE than we bought our home for. We back to dense woods with a path that leads to a huge lake for the boys to go canoeing. It is peaceful just to sit with my Bible on my deck and watch animals scamper by. The tranquility of nature and the time to enjoy it is a blessing!

Although I could go on and on, I won't. My life isn't perfect, but I think taking time for thankfulness for the blessings we have is so important! And it makes for a very happy Monday!

  1. As I sit here and read about your blessings, I think about mine. Without your advice, we would not have our little bundle of joy home with us. He gives us the opportunity to see things in a whole new way. e also gives us a glimpse as parents of how God must feel toward is children.

We are so thankful that all of you came into our lives and for the help each step of the way to our precious son.

  7. My heart is full as I read your thoughts. How could I have ever known how precious you would become to me? As I read your words on Mothers Day eve I understand more fully how very blessed we are to have you in our family, to have you as the Mother of our grandchildren.
