A little bit of China right here at home.

Before we adopted Aria, I read a story of an adult Korean adoptee who was hurt that all the Korean decorations in the home were limited to her bedroom. I don't remember the specifics now, but only that she felt different than the rest of her family.

That story has stuck with me through the years, and Greg and I have purposed to have a little bit of China in every room of our house, beginning with our bedroom.

This beautiful handmade quilt was made in Vietnam (where my newest niece was born) I ordered it in March and because they dye the fabric by hand with vegetables, and hand stitch it, it just came last week. The symbol is the universal  Asian symbol for Happiness.
The cloisonne plate on our dresser we bought when we adopted Gianna. The Asian looking lamps were bought at Linen's and Things but I am sure they were made in China- that counts too doesn't it?
We bought the pictures on the wall in Beijing. Each on is ONE piece of red paper intricately cut to form the characters and designs. I love them!!!
Also, Ryan brought back the 2 throw pillows for my chair.
They are gorgeous!!!
This morning Aria crawled in bed for a good morning snuggle, and sighed contentedly,
and said, "Mommy your room looks just like China. I love China."
I love China too sweet girl.
Mission accomplished, now on to the next room :)
