Twinny Twin Twins Turn THREE!!

One year ago today, a very sweet bloggy friend was in China and went to the twins orphanage ON THEIR BIRTHDAY and sang to Sofia for us.
What a precious gift knowing that one of our twins realized it wasn't just any other ordinary day.
Celia was at the rehab hospital, however, and so she didn't know that September 13 was a very special day.
                A few months before, this is what Celia looked like.

And now, just 10 months home and by God's grace,
they have BLOSSOMED.
 What a wonderous gift we have been given to see what a family can do.
What a precious treasure we have in raising these sweet babies.

 Sofia is diggin' the birthday thang. 
Her inner-diva loves to be sung to.
Isn't she stunning? 
Adorable? 
Squishy? 
Juicy? 
A tad saucy?
Yes, please.
And my Celia.
How can I begin to say how much she has changed.
She came to us weak, malnorished, and lifeless.
She now has JOY.
Spunk.
Attitude.

And let me share a secret about Celia:
This girl can DANCE.
She loves to get her groove-on.


 "Mommy is making me kiss you Celia."

 "Now come here and let's hurry up and get this over with."


"She won't kiss me!! My feelings are hurt. WAAAAHHH"


Neither knew why we were singing or why there was a "1" on their cupcake.
Mommy thinks NO CHILD should ever be without their parents on their birthday.
We make up for lost time around here.

 By the time we got to the "2" Sofia was singing right along with us.

Celia is ready to blow the "3" out.
Three songs for two 3 year olds.
Lost time is now accounted for.

 "We don't just get to sing 3 times? We get to eat it too??"


 Celia knew she liked birthdays and know she knows why.
CHOCOLATE!!!

Chocolate and Daddy make her do the happy dance.

We are opening presents and actually really celebrating on Saturday with the newlyweds and Papa, so today was just a ramp-up for them to get used to the idea that birthdays are FUN!!!

What a joy, a priceless JOY to get to have our hearts desire of twins realized in these two baby girls.
My heart overflows when I think of how they have made us better people because they are our daughters.

    Happy Birthday, Girls! It looks like you both had a very fun birthday.

    Celia, you are on my mind a lot right now because I know that your medical report is due soon. You are in my prayers, as is your family. No matter what, you are a precious child of God and through Him, anything is possible.

    Once again, I will sing happy birthday, but this time I will do it to both girls. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Sophia and Celia. Happy birthday to you. I am sorry that I don't know how to do it in Chinese as my girls sang to her in Chinese. It is amazing how much they have changed. Not to have those sad eyes. You are an amazing mom

How Can It BE??

It's been almost a year since I've posted and for some strange reason, I found a few extra minutes in my day( crazy, huh?) and thought I would catch-up the TWO WHOLE people who might still be checking in now and then. On May 11, 2014 our world was changed in the sweetest way with the birth of our granddaughter. And GUESS WHAT?!? All those stupid , ahem , quippy things said by grandparents everywhere, are, in fact, TRUE! She is the sweetest, smartest little treasure EVER and I would definitely have been a grandma first if I knew how amazing this is. (Sorry, kids.) And we have the privilege of having her 1-2 days per week, which makes this MiMi blissfully happy but also a tad busy. She is now 10 months old, and can tell you what an elephant and a lion says. She is determined to grow up as quickly as she possibly can, and plans to start walking yesterday. She is a GO-GETTER and is on the move. Having her weekly is such a precious gift. The Blessinngs of the Lord make rich...

 Matching PJs and ready for bed. Aren't they adorable?  My and ALL FOUR of my daughters. My cup really runs over!!  Gianna and Celia. I am glad that we prepared ourselves for CP. She is only hypontic in her neck, but she is spastic in her arms, so she is resourseful and uses her feet to grab toys you hold up for her. She is happy, smiley, and sweet as sugar. I am not upset so understand I am saying this as more matter of fact, but she is like a 6 month old in every way. I pray for her sake that some good therapy and nutrition will help her tremendously. She is definitely on the more severe end of CP. We are not shocked, in fact I really expected this end of the spectrum. Please don't feel "sorry" for us or her. She is a blessing and we are privileged to be called to such a child.  Right after we got back to  the hotel room. Sofia only wants ME or Aria. Or she is crying pretty hysterically. Oh what a difference 24 hours makes.

This morning, the PICU nurse announced that we would be moving to the floor today.  I argued with her. I begged. I offered lunch and dinner for the whole PICU staff if they would keep us just one more night.  You see,I spent last night pressing her morphine button every 30 minutes all night long. The nurse came in every hour. She had to check her THREE IVs. Her chest tube that was draining a tremendous amount of blood. Her pain was hard to manage. Her heart rate elevating was our biggest clue, because she never complained. She had a high level of oxygen needed to keep her stats up.  I liked the comfort of knowing that we had one nurse, right outside the door, whose only job all night long was to monitor Gianna and fix every problem as it arose. The nurse laughed and said, "Don't worry she'll be ready. Oh, and she needs to get up and walk today..." What?!??!? It has been LESS than 24 hours since she had major surgery.
