Home Sweet Home.
Nothing says "Welcome Home" like raw sewage in your bathtub.
Not once.
Not twice.
But THREE TIMES since arriving home Saturday.
EEEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Not having running water for laundry dishes, dirty children and their parents has been....fun.
And that bathtub?
Will have to be replaced.
No matter what my husband says about it being a non porous surface, I am holding my ground.
No one I know and love will ever use that God-forsaken tub again.
Did I mention my Publix is out of bleach?
Again.
I have no idea why.
HA!
Soooo.... where were we?
Gianna.
Brave, Amazing, Stubborn.
She bravely went back to the O.R. and woke up in the PACU determined not to sleep off the anesthesia.
And she didn't.
She missed breakfast in the whole deal so she MADE IT HER JOB to eat her 36 lbs of body weight in food:
3 large apple juice cups
2 packs of saltines from the nurse to slowly introduce foods.
Yeah, right.
1 cheddar and wheat packet of crackers from home given on the down low.
1 bowl of chicken noodle soup after much begging the nurse for more food.
1 bag of Sun chips
1/2 ham sandwich and 1/2 bag Salt and Vinegar chips and a chocolate chip cookie we bought at the sub shop downstairs on a detour from going to xray because "I am SO STARVING!"
Shhhh.... don't tell our nurse.
1 vanilla pudding
1 chocolate pudding.
One crabby nurse who was tired of running for more food.
1 steak and cheese sub with EXTRA meat delivered by Daddy because it is her favorite after surgery meal.
A handful of steak fries.
And the stubborn?
She REFUSES to tell us she's in pain because she doesn't like the medicine's taste.
No matter how we try to get it down, it messes with our little Foodie's palette.
If you ask her if she's in pain, she will stare you down and refuse to answer on the grounds she may incriminate herself.
Yes, my 5 year old pleads the 5th.
And my favorite Gianna quote from the trip?
"Mommy I love you. I LOVE you more than I love this hospital."
I am flattered.
For obvious reasons.

Oh, in other news, we have a squirrel moving his extended family into our attic as we speak.
Fun times people.
F-U-N T-I-M-E-S.
Ya'll have a good day and may it be surgery, sewage and squirrel free
Oh ick. On the bright side? It didn't happen the weekend of the wedding :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, and bleach thoughts to all of you.
Yikes! I'd wanna toss that tub too! I'm so sorry you had to come home to that! Hope you can get whatever caused that to happen fixed, and soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't believe Gianna's appetite - I guess that is a good thing! Do you remember when Alyssa was just barely in a high chair and she downed a whole McD's cheeseburger? I don't know where these kids put it!
Gianna certainly is a trouper. What an appetite!
ReplyDelete`No wonder she has had so many surgeries; with an appetite like that she is growing by leaps and bounds. So happy everything went so well (at least until you got back home to that stinky sewage problem.) Welcome back home and praise The Lord for yet another successful surgical procedure. With much love!
