I'm sick.....Goodbye.
So, how's that for a title for a blog post?!?
HA!
More on that later.....
Celia had her Make A Wish visit last weekend to determine her wish.
The ladies who came to see her were very sweet.
And they brought her bubbles in a princess wand.
For Celia, bubbles=love.
We looked through a booklet of people places and things.
Celia started SHRIEKING,
"Disney go, DISNEY GO!!"
when we got to the Disney page.
I think she might want to go see Mickey again.
Just a a guess.
Sooooo.....
We established a wish trip.
But they needed a non-trip wish as well.
We wracked our brains trying to think of something she would LOVE.
Nada.
Then one of the volunteers says,
"You mentioned she loves water. How about a pool?"
Hmmmmm......
She would LOVE THAT!!
Her two wishes are officially either a Disney trip OR a swimming pool in our backyard.
We have about 3 months until we hear what she has been granted.
Then after the sweet ladies left, I opened the mail and.....
Celia was approved for the Deeming Waiver-
ON THE FIRST TRY!!
(No one gets approved the first try, regardless of the severity of the medical needs- their weeding out process)
This means nothing to you, probably, BUT...
The deeming waiver is Medicaid as a secondary to our health insurance. It picks up copays and coinsurance amounts as well as covering services after they have been denied by our primary insurance.
This will be SUCH a TREMENDOUS BLESSING.
She can now get aqua therapy, hippo therapy (horseback riding) and equipment that primary insurance may deem not medically necessary, but Medicaid will cover it.
YES!!!
Then that very day, some VERY special people made a donation to Celia to help buy things for her to make her life better.
We have decided to save that right now, to hopefully add to it to buy her a special needs bike.
Her therapists think she would love it, and she can exert as little or as much effort as she wants, and still be "one of the girls" riding a bike.
Hopefully, we will have enough to buy one next spring.
Then this week, SHE GOT HER MYTOBII!!
It is an eye-gaze computer that the county is leaving at our house.
Literally, she just looks at what she wants to say, and the computer speaks for her.
A $20,000 computer in my school room.
(Yes, we have sternly instructed the girls NOT to touch it EVER.)
That morning, she had pre-school first, so she was pretty tired
and kinda "over it all."
Then, she arched her back, and didn't want to sit in her wheelchair.
Off to a great start.
I was afraid she would not remember how to work it with her eyes.
.
No worries.
She did and promptly told us what she thought.....
"I'm sick"
"Goodbye."
Over and over.
She had her teachers laughing hysterically.
I asked her if she was ready to be done, and she looked at the green face.
"Yes."
Well Alrighty then.
I have a feeling she has A LOT MORE she wants to say now that she can finally communicate effortlessly.
YEA!!!! I'm so happy that this has all come together. God is so good.
ReplyDeleteWow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! and Wow again. Blessing after blessing. We are so happy for her and for the whole family and we thank The Lord for what He is doing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT "Good News" post :) So happy that she will get the therapies that she needs. I'll be back to find out which wish was granted :)
