Back away from the shaver and other musings.
I"m having a ladies tea party tonight so the obvious decision to groom the dog myself over say, making finger sandwiches, scones, tea breads, or ahem, CLEANING, was a brillant one.
I'd like to share a few of my thoughts on what I'd like to call the " dog incident" of 2010:
~Grooming your dog is not as easy as it looks.
~ Cutting it shorter and shorter is not always the best idea to try to cover up a mistake.
~Under all that hair, a dog's skin is very pink.
~Even the most obediant dog WILL NOT HOLD STILL when you have a shaver near their, ahem.. delicate areas.
~I learned this the hard way.
~Thankfully, he is already neutered.
~Your groomer is underpaid. $45 seems like a fortune to pay for a 5lb Yorkie- it's not. Pay them double next time. It's a thankless job.
~Being covered in dog hair is not fun and rather itchy.
~Dog's can actually show embarrassment.
~So can their owner/groomer.
~ I'm now a retired dog groomer.
~Or I was fired.
~ Either way, I am DONE.
Bentley released the following statement through his spokesperson, Aria Cl@xton:
" I am deeply mortified to have been sheared like a common sheep, and considering my pedigree, I feel that I need to be compensated for this mistreatment. I demand to be fed from the table, particularly the foods Aria dislikes, and sleep on her bed with her every night, or I will be forced to sue for emotional damages for being turned into a Mexican Hairless.
I hope we can put this unfortunate incident behind us."

Where's the pictures!?!? ;) LOL I did something similar with our old miniature schnauzer so I can laugh along with you because I can totally relate to everything you just wrote. I LOVE the statement Bentley released.
ReplyDeleteROFL!!!! OH NOOOOOOOOO. Love your writing, as always, Cristy! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou need to complete Bentley's humiliation by posting pictures! You would be cathartic for you, too. LOL
ReplyDeleteHeh. Just snorted my tea up my nose, i was laughing so hard!
ReplyDeleteWell you sealed the deal for me. I have been consdering grooming my two babies myself. I will continue to happily pay the groomer. :)
ReplyDeletePictures, please! I'll let my husband read this. He's pretty sure we can groom our dogs at home. I, of course, said no... even before reading about your experience! Thanks for sharing. You may have just saved 2 little doggies from an embarrassing situation! :o)
