Ten Reasons you can trust us with your kids.
1. In the last 5 years we have had 3 homestudies from 3 diffferent social workers who now know AAALLLL about us. And approved us to adopt any way. ;-)
2. We have been criminally cleared in GA, not once, but 3 times.
3. We have been background checked for child abuse...
4. ...In all the states we have lived in since we were 18 years old.
5. We have current FBI fingerprints that show we are upstanding, law abiding citizens.
6. In addition to ALL the other clearances and checks, we have had USCIS fingerprints for our last 2 adoptions.
Why USCIS can't take the local county,current state, previous states, or FBI's word for it, I HAVE NO IDEA.
Well, except for the FBI charges $18 for a fingerprint check, and the USCIS charges $80.
FOR THE EXACT SAME INFORMATION THEY ALREADY HAVE IN OUR HOMESTUDY!
We are not criminals. We have never been. We have no record any place we have ever lived. The end.

Well, since I am "started", let me just say, that our government at work in relation to adoptions is aahhhh, ahem, how do I say it?
STUPID? RIDICULOUS? INEFFICIENT?
All of the above please.
Case in point: You send your paperwork to be approved to adopt to a "lockbox" in TX. Which isn't really a lockbox, it's a place full of government workers ready and waiting to cash your check.
That's really their job. Open envelope, grab check.
So the logical thing would be that they would process your paperwork, say.... IN TEXAS??
Oh no, that would be waaayyyy to simple.
Nope, they send it SNAIL MAIL to Missouri to process everything but the cashed check thankyouverymuch.
Which takes 15-20 days mind you.
Then you wait "in the queue" for a fingerprint appointment from the local USCIS, which of course, is FAR SUPERIOR to the rest of the fingerprints you have had to date.
You can get online and schedule a fingerprint appointment for the same week, but as USCIS would have it, you WAIT and WAIT for them to send you a letter stating you can get said prints, which will be for at least 2 weeks away from the day those lovely letters arrive in your mailbox.
And there are BABIES waiting on the other side of all that red tape, which no one but the parents seem to care about.
Which brings me back to my reasons...

9. and collected
10. in the face of extreme ridiculousness.
So when do you wanna drop your kids off ??

ReplyDeleteOnce we got our fingerprint appointment letter, we just went in (unscheduled) the next day and told them that Vuong would be out of town the day we were scheduled. We brought a picture of our son along with us. Be sure to tell them all about your girl's special needs and how badly they need to be here for medical treatment. :o) They did let us in and we did have to wait about an hour, but it was so worth it. Our approval came on our originally scheduled day!
What do you have to lose? Like Donna said, the worst they can tell you is 'no'!

I know where you can get a certified document that states that you are absolutely tops in the parent department. This person is VERY HARD to please, and has told everyone she knows that, at least in Cristy's case, she is the very BEST MOTHER that a mother-n-law could ever ask for her grandchildren. This lady is one tough cookie to please when it comes to grandchildren, and if you can please her, you can please anyone!!!! I know because I am she. (proper English?)
