Another Day,

Another Claxton surgery complete.
Another Claxton recovery has begun.
Such is our life.

Today was stressful for obvious reasons.
She did well over all, and for that we are thankful.

A funny story:

The mom in the next room was SOBBING and couldn't hold it together because.... her son was having tubes put in his ears. And the room was FULL: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Sister, all lamenting that poor, poor brother has to have tubes.

Ummm, seriously?

Pull. it. together. woman.

For the love of all things good, stop bawling in front of your 6 year old!

Okay, not trying to rude but I WISH my daughter was only getting tubes.

Your life is easy Lady. Buck up and deal.

Just a few of the random thoughts going through my head.

Spiritual, real spiritual, I know.

It's amazing the things you find funny when you are in a stressful situation.

She was all smiles in her "new dress" with her "new bracelet" until the mean nurse came and took her from Mommy. She thought we were on a Mother/Daughter shopping spree for "cinderella blue" dresses.
They had a hard time getting the blood they needed so she has sticks in both arms, both hands, and her groin. She's going to be really sore. Her spinal tap was done while she was asleep thankfully, so she should be no worse for wear on that one.
Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby? Yes, a POST-OP sleeping baby. The worst is over and the healing process can begin. Now we pray she stays MRSA/Staph/Infection free.
And this lovely picture is to show how big the incision is, which it really doesn't. She has about a 2 inch incision on her thigh, which, if you are Celia means almost the length of your thigh. The Dr said it will be "extremely painful" for about 3 days. They took a chunk of muscle about the size of your pinky nail. Again think tiny, little 21lb Celia, and that's a lot.

So now that my adrenaline is gone, I'm going to bed. Night all! Thanks for praying for our baby girl!!

  2. WE are so glad that the day is behind you and you can begin to concentrate on the normal things - you know - like 3 PT sessions a week, home schooling, going to the "normal" Dr.s and don't forget the fun stuff like grocery shopping. Seriously, if you can, try to put this week in the back of your mind (yeh right), there is nothing you can do till the results are in. We are doing as much as we can in the prayer dept. We met some nice gals from Ark. today and they are taking Celia's story back with them tomorrow. Give her a big hug for us!

  4. Ok another funny story for you. When Abby was in the hospital a couple of years ago she was having sinus surgery. She was already inpatient for a pulmonary exacerbation so she had a room and she had been watching animal planet before they took her down to the OR. So they take her down and matt and I are pacing her hospital room. Something on tv caught our attention and the next thing you know we are laughing so hard the nurses came to check on us. The story on animal planet was about a turtle having surgery. No 1 problem- who in the world pays to have surgery on a TURTLE- seriously. But then they talk about how they had to take the shell off etc to complete the surgery. Well, said turtle died in the OR and the dr come out to tell the family and they all started crying hysterically. Now we are total animal lovers, but our daughter is in surgery here! Get a grip folks!! Just thought you would find that funny after your ear tube story! Still praying constantly for you guys!!
