Still Smiling.
Gianna had her surgery yesterday.
In the pre-op area, Dr. Samdani told her that he had to write on her back, so it was only fair that she could draw on him. She took the marker and drew a HUGE HEART on the palm of his hand. She said, " I drew a heart because I love you Dr. Samdani."
He teared up.
The man she knows is going to cut her open, and she loves him.
After surgery, initially she did GREAT and then she crashed, barfed, rebounded and did great again. And when I say great, think Mommy had to stop her from RUNNING down the hall on the way to xray.
And then about 9:30PM she hit the wall.
Hard.
The tylenol with codeine wasn't touching the pain and she was writhing around in agony while they were getting morphine and valium (for muscle spasms) to add to it.
I was in tears, it is literally THE WORST to see your child in so much pain.
Through her silent sobs, she looked at me and said,
" Mommy? At least I can still smile."
Sigh.
I have so much to learn from her.
