The Decade in Review

We started Y2K in VA with 14 and 12 yr old sons, thinking the world's computer systems might crash, and  then were thankful when they didn't.  Yes, we were one of those people. HA!

Since that New Years  Day 2000 to New Year's Eve 2010 we have:

~Sold our first townhome and bought our first single family home.

~Left a church we had been at for 16 years, and lost  almost all our friends.

~Moved to Georgia and started over.

~Took the boys to ski in Colorado.

~Braved the olympic training slopes and black diamond runs in Tahoe.

~Went on vacation to Florida, North Carolina, California, Washington State, Nevada, Colorado.

~Suffered broken fingers, a sawed off finger, broken ankles and shoulder tears- and that's just Greg and I!!

~Bought 9 cars in 10 years. I know, that sounds bad, but a few were for kids! ;)

~Faced being laid off two times. Once at Christmas time.

~ Learned a lot about FAITH and TRUST in God's provisions through those times.

~Had 2 sisters and a dad move to GA so we wouldn't get lonely.

~Shocked our sons by telling them we were foregoing a mid-life crisis and instead adding a  little sister to our family.

~Had two boys graduate high school and begin college.

~Sold Greg's very sweet Mustang Cobra to afford a trip to China.

~Traveled internationally to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Amsterdam, London,Egypt, Cyprus, Rhodes, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, China, Hong Kong and Canada.

~ Put a padlock with our family name engraved on it on the Great Wall of China.

~Became aware of China's special needs program and immediately KNEW God had another blessing for us there.

~Went from a working mom to a stay at home mom for the first time ever.

~Added our second beautiful daughter.

~Entered our fabulous 40's.

~Began homeschooling.

~Have watched our brave daughter face 5 major surgeries in 3.5 years with many, many more ahead of her.

~Lost a few years of our lives and added a few gray hairs in the process.

~Went from paintball gun fights and basketball games to princess parties and ballet recitals.

~Went to Disney 6 times.

~Gained new best friends that will always be there for us.

~Blessed by reconnecting with a few loved ones from the church we left.

~Had both our sons move out on their own.

~Understand "empty nest syndrome" even though your nest is still quite full.

~Had our oldest move out of state.

~Watched our sons fall in love.

~Shocked ourselves when we realized that God wasn't done blessing us with children.

~Thought He had another daughter from Korea.

~Thrilled to be approved for TWINS from China.

~Became southern. And like it.

~Added daily therapy sessions to our homeschool day.

~COMPLETED our family.

Through every up and down of the last decade, GOD has been so faithful to us. Teaching us hard life lessons, growing us, showing us our selfishness and requiring us to change.

It has been, at times, very painful but we can look back and say it was GOOD.

Can't wait to see what HE has in store for us in the next 10 years.

Happy New Year from our family to yours!

  3. Even though we walked with you during those 10 years, it is hard to believe all of that happened. We Justin and Ryan really only 14 & 12 then. Somehow they seemed much older. AND when you think about it you got the girls in only 6 years. (I know the process was longer) Ya'll have been incredibly busy. I would tell you to slow down, but that's NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

So I guess you will just have to fall back to plan B. G & G are just 44 days away!!!! See you soon.

  4. Wow, I best head off to bed after reading that decade full of life. I have loved following your time home with the girls (followed you over from RQ). Your family is beauitful. Our son is 3 years old and also has CP. I don't know how you keep everyone so loved on as well as you do but it sure looks like you do a great job. Enjoy the next decade of life.
