Musings of the Sleep Deprived

Yes, I know I didn't post Christmas pictures like every other good blogging mama out there. Truth be told, I STILL don't have a camera and returned the one I borrowed from my son, so there are no Christmas pictures.

Sniff.

On to my rant for the day:

Our sleep is...

...random.

...broken.

...minimal.

...lacking.

Shall I go on??

Last night for example,  Celia did the "crocodile death roll" around her g-tubing.

Not once,

not twice,

but three times.

She set the alarm off from kinking the line two times.

She has done the death roll and gotten the cords wrapped around her neck more than once.

Yeah.

So you can imagine we sleep with one eye open on the video monitor watching for her to start thrashing and rolling.
Which is SOOOO restful, let me tell ya'.

Then after all those times up and running down the hall, the dog had to pee.
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

Stupid thimble bladdered dog.

And juuuusssstttt as we were drifting off to sleep for the 600th time, Sofia starts shrieking,

"DADDY, BUG!!!!"

Daddy darts outta bed, and runs to inspect her bed expecting a spider the size of a small child by the sounds of the shrieking (there was no bug) and lifts her up to comfort her, when the fear of the imaginary bug hit her bladder and she peed all over her bed, her daddy, and the carpet.

Oh yes she did.

I rush down the hall, to strip her bed while daddy is bathing her.
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STINKIN' NIGHT PEOPLE!!!

Celia laid in her bed watching me strip sheets and clean the carpet, and solemnly says, "Bug. Bug."
Nothing like the twin to back up the other's story. HA!

We get them settled, snuggled and sleepy and wearily head back down the hall.

We stagger into bed yet again and snuggle up, when my sweet man whispers,

"Why doesn't God want us to sleep?"

Hahahaheeheeheeohmysideishurtingfromlaughingsohard...

But seriously, could we please get a good night in every once in awhile?!?

Pretty please?

  3. With the huge exception of caring for Celia - you have simply forgotten how much fun 3 year olds can be. The biggies were "relatively" easy. The boys were a long time ago. Seriously, as soon as I get rid of the "crud" I will be there to help. In the meantime, know that we love you and have you all in our prayers every day.

  4. You know it's really bad when you get excited to only have to get up once during the night! Haha! I can so sympathize with you! I live for my Tylenol pm nights. Lol!

  5. I am so sorry, but I am laughing like crazy! This is just too funny!

I do hope you are able to get more sleep, though, too.
