RSV and C.

~First and foremost, Celia came HOME today!!! YAY!!

~RSV is a virus and in our area the hospital said 1/2 the hospital is full of special needs children with RSV, AND it's the worst year for RSV they've seen in the last 3 years.

~Very likely, Gianna (also has lung issues) got pneumonia from RSV.

~Celia can get this virus again.... next week, next month, tomorrow even. Because it's a virus, there is no real treatment for it, other than to try to help her lungs. It can lead to pneumonia and for Celia that could become life-threatening.

~Her cough, and spasms could last for 7-10 more days.

~She is "most  critical" for the next few weeks. That means, IF she gets it again, (or anything for that matter) it will be very, very serious for her.

~She needs to be very careful for the next SIX MONTHS to stay respiratory healthy. Her lungs/airway/little body has taken a big hit, and she already was behind the curve with her silent aspirations and lung damage she has already sustained from eating.

~ Lysol kills RSV.

~ That is music to my ears.

~I have been lysoling like a mad-woman awaiting her return home to me.

~We have to make some decisions for our girl to keep her healthy. We don't want her to never leave home, (okay truthfully I DO want that, but that's not the quality of life we want for the girls) but we will have to make decisions on a case by case basis on what we can do, and what we cannot.

~A simple runny nose for your kid could mean a hospital stay or worse for mine. We don't wanna be crazed- fear based folks here, but we need to use wisdom. I have a great group of friends that are so sweet to let me know if their kids even sniffle. We are so thankful for that.

~We may have her wear a mask in public situations or cover her in the stroller with a blanket. It may not help too much, but it makes me think I'm doing something to keep her safe, so please refrain from pointing and laughing at me.

~Hand washing and sanitizer are our friends.

~Lysol is my bestest friend- did I say that already???

~We are happy to be HOME.

~I instructed Greg to take everything from the hospital that wasn't nailed down, since we will be paying for it anyway. Diapers, wipes, formula, tubing, masks, etc, etc.

He texts me and says, "If the feed pump is unscrewed from the IV pole, then it's technically not nailed down, right?"

AND,

"The towels were too scratchy, but the shower curtain looks new."

~I love it that he can make me laugh even in stressful times.

~Our son comes home tomorrow. He left strict instructions that everyone must get healthy for his return. We have 3 healthy ones, and one who is home from the hospital, so we'll count her as healthy too.

~Let the festivities begin..... well, after a good night's sleep that is.

  1. put a table by your front door with a huge bottle of sanitizer on it with a pretty sign reminding everyone to use it :) Praying for the whole family...may the coffee never run out...love ya!

  2. Oh, and have everyone remove their shoes...and wash their hands as soon as they come in. One of my friends had a very ill baby for a long time - her ped recommended that when older siblings come in from being around other kids that they actually change their clothes. Not sure if that is helpful or not :) Sending you lots of love my dear.
