Certifiable.
If you know us well, you know we are....
how do I say....
unconventional?
decisive?
a tad rash perhaps?
I will say, when know what we want-- WE DO IT.
A few days ago we started talking about getting a big dog.
We have a big dog NEED.
And a little dog NEED.
We like one of each thankyouverymuch.
When Greg travels, it is an extra-layer of protection to have a large dog.
Also a large dog is the perfect treadmill. You can't roll over and hit the snooze when you have a BEAST in your face.
So, it will come as NO SURPRISE to those that know us, that just a mere 3 days after we decided to get a dog, that we had a home visit for a "potential pup."
And then he stayed.
Just like that.
Without further adieu, let me introduce Harley...
Harley was from the boxer rescue. He is 2.5 years old and a pure bred boxer with papers. He was surrendered because his owner couldn't spend the time with him that she used to. He was not neglected or abused. In fact, he is obedience trained and housebroken. Neutered, up to date on shots, and in perfect health. Oh, and the most important part is that he was raised with 3 children, and in true boxer fashion, he is excellent with kids.
Oh, and did I mention that..... HE IS BIG.
Massive even.
To give you a little visual, Bogey (Ryan's boxer) is about 70 lbs, and Harley is 98lbs.
Yeah, I mean THAT B-I-G.
He is a gentle giant.
The perfect gentleman.
He is so gentle, that we walk him with a harness not a pinch collar because he doesn't pull.
He truly is an amazingly great dog.
Since we weren't expecting to be able to keep him today, we had no food, bowls, bed, crate or toys.
After the home-visit-turned-adoption-day festivities settled down, I rushed to Cost-co to get the goods.
If I told you the girls were excited, that would be an understatement.
It was meant to be,
OR,
We are certifiably crazy.
I'm not sure which.

Reserving judgement on that last bit :)
ReplyDeleteHe is a beautiful dog. Maybe he can come give my dogs some pointers. Although mine are actually pretty good as long as you are not a small rodent. or a cat. or a leaf that just MIGHT be one of those two things.
He looks like a bundle of love in a white fur coat. Congratulations on your new family member!
ReplyDeletedefinitely crazy but always in a good way :) I am jealous that your new baby is so well trained...I'm having dog envy...Misty almost got hit by 2 cars today...but if my dogs were not so weird and crazy they wouldn't fit so well in our family...heehee...love you all!
ReplyDeleteCRAZY! Just sayin ;)
ReplyDeleteI wondered why we had not heard from you for a while. I gotta say - I love him already. Can't wait for a formal introduction. 98 pounds? How big were Turk and Turbo?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You are definitely not crazy. I think you'll find that this dog helps immensely with the girls, especially Celia.
