New Year the Chinese Way

Thankfully Chinese New Year is 15 days long.
Last Monday, (the official "day" for Chinese New Year)
I get a text from Yo:
"Isn't today Chinese New Year?"
I replied:
"Not for us... Check back next Sunday."

It's how we roll, folks.
It's how we roll.

We started the day with Dragon Donuts. Call me creative or call me a plagerist.
I have no idea who I stole the idea from, but Lord knows, it didn't come from me.
I do not have a creative bone in my body.
But apparently I steal ideas well.
I thought they were... festive.
In an ugly way, of course.

Our Maggie stayed the night, and Aria took this photo of her eating her lovely Dragon Donut.
We even re-named her "Mei" for the day so she felt a little Chinese.
I think it worked.

My four precious blessings. Can I just tell you that they melt my heart with their Chinese loveliness?!?
I AM SO THANKFUL the Lord blessed us with these treasures.

Edible. Juicy. Sweet. with a hint of S-P-I-C-Y just for fun. That would be these two.

Aria took pictures of the table set for the lovely food we picked up the phone, ordered, and picked up.
I have made the homemade stuff before, but I think it's SO MUCH easier to write a check.
Don't judge.

In keeping with the theme of the 'Year of the Dragon" I made this dragon cake.
Even for a swiped idea, I was pretty proud of how he turned out.
The girls were impressed, so that's all that matters.

Annnnndddddd........
Just in case next year is the
"Year of the Moose/Polar Bear/Beast/Dog/Behemoth"
We decided to get our photos early.

Okay, is it me, or is there an uncanny resemblance with these two?!?
Happy Year of the Dragon!

  1. Just a quick note to let you know I love your blog... you're a great writer & your children are precious. There are several similarities between my daughters and your girls so it's fun to follow your story, thanks for sharing it. :)
