The crazy week in review.

Monday: Cardiology for both twins in the morning for 3 long hours. (Both of them have healthy little hearts) A very short time to grab lunch, and speech therapy evaluation in the afternoon. Left the house at 9 AM and got home with 4 tired little girls and one exhausted mommy at 5PM.

Tuesday: Made plans with my sister to FINALLY meet my new niece from China.  Got up early to clean up the clutter and make muffins (and shower:)Unfortunately, I didn't look at my calendar, so I totally forgot that we had an 11:30 AM appointment to set up therapy at home services in addition to our 5 therapy appointments we do at Childrens. I saw it on the calendar when my sister was heading over for coffee, and she graciously offered to keep my girls so I could just take the twins. Went to OT after therapy and picked up big girls at 3:30PM. Home by 4 PM- exhausted again.

Wednesday: Went to the Neurologist with twins for Celia. She was very nice, but won't know anything until the MRI which has been scheduled for a week and a half from now. She freaked me out and said that although her gut is CP, that some kids have neuromuscular diseases that present as CP.
(I am trying not to G@@gle- I don't want to know.)

Thursday: Had to have the twins at the eye Dr at 8:30 AM. It is HARD to get everyone up and fed and out of the house by 8 AM around here, but with my sweet hubby's help, we made it! We were there for 3 hours. Sofia is great, Celia has lazy eyes so she has to wear an eye patch for an hour each day to strengthen them. Mental note to Mom: don't forget to patch Celia's eye. Great news is, that CP kids can have optic nerve issues and she has none- YIPPEE!!!

Came home, fed twins and biggies, ran back out the door with twins for 35 minute drive to therapy. Got home at 4 PM and biggies wanted to go swimming at the Y. Put everyone in swimsuits, grabbed an ungodly amount of towels and headed to the pool. Everyone made it about an hour and were cold/tired/hungry. Got home at 6:30PM with lots of grumpy people.
I won't name names.

Friday: Actually had a morning at home. Spent the morning dealing with insurance issues and figuring out how Celia can get PT at home AND at Children's and not cause HUGE insurance issues. It got resolved.....We finally figured out (after numerous calls) that it is NOT doable, so we will be paying for her  weekly therapies at home. Put the twins down for a nap, and realized we have no food. Ran to the store (BY MYSELF) and relished the quiet. Yes, the grocery store is Mommy's field trip. :)
Ran home, unloaded, and picked up the big girls for our Keeper's at Home meeting. Daddy graciously kept the twinnies so that Mommy could actually participate in the planning for the year.

Saturday: Started swimming lessons with the girls at 10 AM. Spent the time prior comforting Aria who HATES swimming lessons and cried and complained. She did great though, and when we left, I asked her if she had fun. Her reply? "Yes is WAS fun! Well, except for the jumping in and swimming part." HA! Ran to the store to get necessities for the coming snow/ice storm. Actually, all we needed was hot chocolate, but we braved the stores anyway. I mean, who wants to get snowed in without copious amounts of hot chocolate??? We have our priorities, people.

And now, God in His gracious mercy has blessed me with the ability to STAY HOME because Lawd knows nobody goes ANYWHERE in Georgia in 5-6 inches of snow with ice on top.

And I'm thinking about seizing the opportunity to potty train, clean, organize, purge and get caught up.

OR, maybe I will stare blankly while sipping hot chocolate for days on end.

I can't decide.

Comments

  1. Sip the hot chocolate. Save the potty training till summer time. Really. Or at least until you get some more info on C. You will do too much and get sick!!!

My dearest Cristy! By all means sip the hot chocolate for at least two days and teach the girls what real living with the snow is all about.
After your wild (though productive week) you deserve a medal at the very least. Have you noticed how many little blessings there have been?
Perfect little hearts, no "CP" eye issues that a patch won't cure. For now DON'T GOOGLE. Some things need to be left for later.

Wish I could watch the snow with you!

  3. Cristy, You are an amazing women, I agree with the above comments, savor the moment of calmness as I have learned with my 5 children, the stuff will still be there, eventhough I like to get everything done now and stay on top, I sometimes let it go as I realize how fast my kids are growing up. I see God is giving you little bits of good news, so don't google anything.
