If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

I am just SURE that everyone in Georgia wants to see more pictures of children in the snow.
Right?
I mean, they are all over FB, on every blog, and we have ALL seen the pictures, the SNOW  and the cute kiddies with rosy cheeks.
I was proud of my self for at least being original enough to have a collapsed canopy too.
HA!
Well, I just HAVE to join the "cute snow pictures" club too.
I am such a follower.

Aria is a perfect depiction of a Georgia girl. She has no real winter coat that wicks away moisture, is water repellant, and will keep her warm in sub-zero temperatures. Nope.
No snow pants. No slushy pants to at least help keep her dry.
She is wearing her church coat, mommy's hat, and ziploc bags over her socks and in her crocs.
Poor girl doesn't even own boots!
Gianna fared a bit better due to a generous friend in VA who passed down a few things.
Thanks Diane! At least one of my daughters won't freeze!

I had to MAKE this girl come in. She was happy to play outside for hours.
(The right winter gear may have something to do with it.)

Isn't it perfectly normal to swing in the snow?

Sledding with a trash can lid.
We're classy like that.

We may just need to invest in snow clothes and a sled, you know, just so they can outgrow them for the next snow storm, in say....2021 or thereabouts.

And this concludes the Snowmaggedon pictures of 2011.
Thank you for sacrificing a few moments of your life to indulge us.

  1. Too funny. The first time my (now)6 year old played in the snow she had tennis shoes and lots of layers socks. She was deathly afraid of boots and even then she only had suede ones that weren't meant for the cold. So my dad cleverly put the plastic bags the newspapers came in over her shoes and kept them there with rubber bands, heh. We are in the south as well. So glad you shared your southern snow exposure!

  2. My advice? Goodwill/Salvation Army because they will grow SO fast...and the sizes you buy for the older girls? Will be the sizes the younger girls need....in JULY :)

  3. We wore lots of socks and rain boots, and footed pajamas too. One friend told me to put medical gloves under the fleece gloves and it worked like a charm. We did have hand me down snow pants for the oldest but used plastic bags on the youngest. I am considering at least purchasing a cheap sled, they don't outgrow it and we could have really used it this year and last.

  4. At least yours will venture out in the snow. After 3 Christmases in Minnesota, Sheridan won't even go out in the stuff. He is quite the philosophical little man - "This is NOT snow. Snow is when you can build huge snow forts and ride on your sled behind Uncle Joel's 4 wheeler! You can't even build a good snowman with this stuff!"

  5. For sure, these are the most beautiful snow birds we have ever seen. Please hold onto the snow until we get there, and then "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Love you.

  6. Well, I for one TOTALLY enjoyed all your snow pictures. The girls are so adorable and getting so big. Hopefully we will see each other next month when I come to Woodstock!!

P.S. I love all the pictures of your beautiful family - you can "feel" the love when you look at them.
