Catching up..

Wednesday: We spent the majority of  the day at Shriners, having her post-op visit and waiting for her prescription to be filled. We learned so much on how to care for her as she is healing, and what she can and cannot do. It was a bit overwhelming, and I know that all "rib kids" are different, but her abilities are very limited and will be for the next 6 months.

Thursday: We awoke at 3:30 AM to get ready for the airport after waking every 3 hours to give Gianna her meds. We made it through security without any problems, and the officer was kind enough not to make me take her out of the stroller. The flight was HORRIBLE. Turbulence the entire flight, so much so, that the flight attendants were not allowed out of their seats either. Gianna cried and moaned the entire flight. At one point, I was sure she was going to vomit from the motion... Aria was wonderful, and after checking my watch every 30 seconds for 2 hours, we finally landed. We were greeted at home by family and friends, which was a wonderful morale booster for all of us.

Friday: Greg had his interview in Philly, and drove straight to Atlanta with only one stop, arriving late in the evening. His interview went wonderfully and he was told to expect an offer next week. We are cautiously excited, because we know in this market things could change.
The girls and I had a very quiet pajama day, and all took naps, which were much needed. I even bathed Gianna by myself, which was hard on her, but we got through it. We have to blow dry her back because they want the steri-strips completely dry. I cannot tell you how much she HATES blow dryers, so that was the worst part of it.

And today: We unpacked and put away all the stuff we lugged to Philly, in shifts ofcourse, so one of us could care for Gianna. I actually got a lot done today, and am thankful to have my sweet husband to help me with everything.

We are trying to get back to a normal routine when things are anything but normal right now. I know we will find a groove and as she improves it will get easier.

Thank you all again for the prayers and support... I cannot begin to tell you how much it has all meant to us!

  2. The kids and I have checked your site everyday for an update. I am so glad that you are home and getting settled in. What great news about Greg's job interview. I have to admit, I am working up the nerve to sign up to bring you dinner, but I am afraid it would be several steps down from what your family is used too. You just can't beat that lasagna and boston creme pie you brought us! *smile*
